Beta: Day One by Justin

As one of the original ChaCha employees I’ve got a really warm feeling in my tummy about seeing that “Beta” tag next to the ChaCha logo. I remember when we went Alpha it was like sending my child off to his first day at school (though I’m not a parent so I can only guess). It had grown up. It had to go out into the real world. I could no longer shepherd it and make sure people only said nice things about it. Now I’ve got that sense of pride that my kid did (very) well and at 14,000 Guides, is way more popular than I will ever be.

ChaCha is no longer a small search engine run by a few people in Indiana; we have a huge community of enthusiastic Guides committed to making it succeeed and a team of wonderful and intelligent people back at ChaCha HQ working around the clock constantly tweaking and improving it. We’re continually breaking our own traffic records and are already seeing more traffic than some popular and established search engines. After a tremendous amount of work and patience by everyone it’s finally ready to take on the world. I hope our Guides take just as much pride in ChaCha as we all do because they’re just as responsible for its success thus far. And on behalf of everyone at ChaCha HQ I’d like to say thank you to all of our Guides.

In case you’re not aware, we all have a goal of getting 1.5 million visitors in our first five days of Beta. That’s an immense goal. That’s the entire population of Estonia. However, we’re sure that we can reach it because you’re all going to help us, right? Right! Here’s how you can help… Tomorrow we’ll debut our Spread ChaCha Search page. Go there and do everything on that list to make sure you’re doing everything you can to help our Search Engine grow even more! You’ll receive a Newsletter with more information on this in the morning.

We’ve also got an amazing PR team to help us introduce new users to ChaCha. Click the “read more” link at the bottom to see the ridiculously long list of publications that wrote about us today.

And go visit ChaChaGear.com to get yourself some new threads. We’re selling everything at cost because we just really want to see you in a ChaCha Tracksuit. Leave me a comment if you have any stories about telling people about ChaCha or creative ways you’ve been promoting it. Also, send me a picture of you in your new ChaCha T-shirt when you get it!

I too feel like I just sent my child off to college with the launch of Beta and all of the hoopla. I was on early and stayed late yesterday. What an exciting day. I know that the other guides join me in a sense of pride at being a part of “our” ground breaking search engine, Chacha.com. Good going, team. We’re cheering you on and doing all we can to help you succeed. How did you manage to get us all so very much on your side? SOMEONE is watching over y’all. =)

Hi there! Just wanted to share that ChaCha.com was mentioned on Houston’s channel 13 - ABC affiliate! They are doing a little piece on work-at-home jobs and mentioned ChaCha with a short interview about it…wasn’t very long and I didn’t catch the whole thing, but the name is definately getting around! Way to go, ChaCha.com!!
